Week 3

I can't believe how much you have changed since the day you were born. Daddy and I have created a website for you, well for all of us really, so we can watch you grow up. You have definitely developed into this cute little baby boy. The faces and noises are so cute we can't stop staring at you. It's still raining here so we haven't been able to get out as much as we would like, but we try. You've definitely found out that being held is a lot more fun than lying there by yourself. We hope you won't kill us when we eventually move you in to your room.

I started going to the mommy group which meets every Tuesday and we rotate mom's houses. Usually there will be walking but it's been cold and rainy. We met at Vicki's house today, along with 5 other moms. I was a bit nervous at first but I was very glad we went. I should have brought my camera because all these babies were lined up in their car seats and I realized how fun it will be for you to grow up with all of these little ones :)

You started sucking your thumb today 1/27. I was getting your bottle ready and I don't think you up for waiting for it. I look down to see all 4 fingers up on your cheek and in your eye and your thumb in your mouth. Let's see if this stays around when your teeth come in :) I'm thinking about braces already. Haaa Daddy and I didn't have braces so we are crossing fingers on one less expense.

You get in these little quiet modes sometimes where you lie there so calm and stare at things. You look sooo content.

Feeding you in the middle of the night, gets challenging. We awake to feed you
roughly every 3 hours, sometimes 4 if we are lucky. Being that we are half asleep, we
sometimes fall back to sleep while feeding you. I wake up and find the bottle in your nose or on the bed and there you are just chillin waiting for me to give it back to you.

Week 2

Week 2

We took a stroll in downtown San Mateo today (1/15) and went to Peet's coffee. Such good,
strong coffee, you'll find out one day. We saw another little baby boy about the same age as you - so I thought. I was only going off of the size. I decided to stop and say hello and ask her how old her baby was. "Two months" she says to me and in return I say you were 8 days old!!! People can't believe it and they also can't believe how strong your mommy is in getting out there and walking around after having you not so long ago. We had a great day with daddy just strolling through Central Park with our Peet's coffee in hand. Here's to many more great days together. XO
It was raining on Sunday (Jan 17) and we wanted to get out of the house and go on a little walk
with you so we took you to Hillsdale Mall for a spin. We took you into the Disney store but
there wasn't much for newborns, but we did manage to take a picture with you embedded in
the stuffed animals. Then, of course, we had to head to the Lego store because it's one of
daddy's favorite, next to Toys R Us. We bought him, I mean you, some Lego's to use when you
get older and we are looking at spelling out your name in Lego's. Stay tuned!

Week 1

You were supposed to arrive on Jan 2nd but you weren't ready yet. As the days rolled on we were finally told to go into the hospital the night of Jan 5th. So we ordered some sushi for delivery and had Gabbie/Frank and the girls here and pigged out before going in. We stopped at CVS for magazines in case mommy was bored at the hospital and then strolled in to Stanford's labor/delivery Hospital once a bed was free (busy night there apparently!). My water broke right away and then the Pitocin began as they tried to induce you since my amniotic fluid was low. After 24hrs of labor followed by a c-section, you were born on January 7, 2010 weighing in at a big 9lbs 10oz and 22" long. Unfortunately, you had to be in the special care unit because mommy's temperature was rising and there was concern that it could be caused by an infection and wanted to make sure it wasn't passed on to you. Daddy was there by your side as they made sure you had nothing wrong. You were so quiet, calm and alert as you grabbed Daddy's pinky finger with your tiny hand. During your stay at the nursery, some wonderful volunteers gave you a hand knitted tomato cap for your head and a gorgeous quilt which we now have at home with us. You were the talk of the town, let me tell you. Everyone loved you and how big you were.

We stayed at the hospital for 4 days then squeezed you into the car seat for the drive home.
Having never fitted you into the seat before; Daddy was knocking you left and right up and down trying to get you locked in...You just sat there..sound asleep.

We've learned that feeding isn't always the easiest unless it's from the bottle. You scrunch your nose up and your eyebrows down and shake your head back and forth trying to find the nipple and we couldn't help but crack up at the frustrated little face as you tried to feed. Following your feedings is a hugeeeee amount of gas and poop which also cracks up your dad and I.

Today you turned 1 week old and already time has flown by. You're a constant amazement to stare at when your sleeping or when you are searching the room with your large dark grey eyes.
