You were supposed to arrive on Jan 2nd but you weren't ready yet. As the days rolled on we were finally told to go into the hospital the night of Jan 5th. So we ordered some sushi for delivery and had Gabbie/Frank and the girls here and pigged out before going in. We stopped at CVS for magazines in case mommy was bored at the hospital and then strolled in to Stanford's labor/delivery Hospital once a bed was free (busy night there apparently!). My water broke right away and then the Pitocin began as they tried to induce you since my amniotic fluid was low. After 24hrs of labor followed by a c-section, you were born on January 7, 2010 weighing in at a big 9lbs 10oz and 22" long. Unfortunately, you had to be in the special care unit because mommy's temperature was rising and there was concern that it could be caused by an infection and wanted to make sure it wasn't passed on to you. Daddy was there by your side as they made sure you had nothing wrong. You were so quiet, calm and alert as you grabbed Daddy's pinky finger with your tiny hand. During your stay at the nursery, some wonderful volunteers gave you a hand knitted tomato cap for your head and a gorgeous quilt which we now have at home with us. You were the talk of the town, let me tell you. Everyone loved you and how big you were.
We stayed at the hospital for 4 days then squeezed you into the car seat for the drive home.
Having never fitted you into the seat before; Daddy was knocking you left and right up and down trying to get you locked in...You just sat there..sound asleep.
We've learned that feeding isn't always the easiest unless it's from the bottle. You scrunch your nose up and your eyebrows down and shake your head back and forth trying to find the nipple and we couldn't help but crack up at the frustrated little face as you tried to feed. Following your feedings is a hugeeeee amount of gas and poop which also cracks up your dad and I.
Today you turned 1 week old and already time has flown by. You're a constant amazement to stare at when your sleeping or when you are searching the room with your large dark grey eyes.
